The role of the Parochial Church Council is to co-operate with the minister in promoting, in the parish, the whole mission of the Church - pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. All members and officers should be aware of the responsibilities of the PCC which is governed by law; in particular the financial obligations - also in respect of maintenance of the fabric and the need for permission to carry out works on the fabric either from the Archdeacon or by a Faculty (church planning permission) granted by the Chancellor of the Diocese (the Bishop's law advisor and usually a senior lawyer or QC).

Don't be put off by these aspects of church governance, they are there to protect us and not hinder us in carrying out God's mission to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ. That is the first and foremost task of the body of Christ.

Find out more about the documents which set out governance arrangements for PCCs:

If you feel you can offer something to the life of the parish as a member of the PCC or as secretary or churchwarden the Rector would be happy to speak with you. To be a member of the PCC you must be on the church electoral roll; each parish has an electoral roll officer who can be contacted via the churchwardens listed in the parish magazine.

Should you be interested, please contact the Rector.
