Rutland Water Benefice

The Diocese of Peterborough, Deanery of Rutland

'Reflections of Normanton' by Grant Daft

Welcome to the website for the Rutland Water Benefice, comprising the Parishes of Edith Weston, Empingham, Lyndon, Manton, North Luffenham, Pilton, Preston, Ridlington, Whitwell and Wing.

These ten parishes are just a small number in the Deanery of Rutland, part of the Diocese of Peterborough. Each Parish is proud of its history stretching back to the Middle Ages with the churches reflecting the changes in architecture and are well cared for by the people.

If you are planning a visit, we hope you find this information useful and when you do arrive, stay a-while not only to spot the iconic Osprey over the reservoir but sample the history of a rural people who have worshipped in these ten churches continuously for 700+ years.

Our What's On Guide gives a list of events in the Rutland Water Parishes over the coming period, more details can also be found in our Parish Magazine distributed free to each home in the benefice.

Confirmation Classes
These will start on Thursday April 18th, 7.30pm, at the Rectory.
Each class will last about an hour.

If you would like to explore Confirmation for yourself, or know someone who would like to begin the journey, then please contact me, David Nicol, at The Rectory or via the contact form.

"Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. The Church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus."

Revd. David Nicol
